Orbea becomes official sponsor of Mongolia Bike Challenge, the most extreme test on the Asian continent

At Orbea we love a challenge, could this be our catch phrase? No. It´s our hallmark. No matter how far we have to look for them and this time we have gone as far as Mongolia: Orbea has become the sponsor of the Mongolia Bike Challenge, perhaps the hardest test throughout Asia. Not even the legendary Genghis Kahn would dare take it on, but the 108 brave competitors who have registered for this second edition will do so.
“We are delighted to embark on this adventure. This race, after its first edition is renowned for its hardness and beauty", indicates Joseba Arizaga, marketing manager of Orbea. With a route of 1,200 kilometers and a 14,000 meters gradient, we can begin to understand why in his first edition, held in 2010, only 73% of the athletes who registered obtained the title of Finisher.
Crossing the dunes of the Gobi, with ports exceeding 2800 meters and gradients of up to 29% throughout its nine stages, the Mongolia Bike Challenge route is among the most extreme today in the world of MTB: " For Orbea it is an opportunity to offer to bike enthusiastic an unforgettable experience. July 30th will see the start of the Mongolia Bike Challenge, open both to competitive professionals and high level amateurs. If you feel physically and mentally fit, you can register at the official website.
The race leaves from Dalanzagad and runs through the Mongolian plains before entering the impressive dunes of the Gobi: Chahallenge.comnges in the panorama are brutal, with desert or pre-desert landscapes between stages 2 and 5, but hardest is yet to arrive.
The sixth day is the most important stage: two ports of 2,800 meters through places where you could well think that you are the first person to have passed through. On the seventh day… you will be able to rest. And make sure you do, because stages 7.8 and 9 are also pure hell as you make your way towards Karakorum.
